At Home · The Thanksgiving Edit
Five beautiful centrepieces. One memorable gathering.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful reason to slow down, gather around the table, and enjoy the comforts of home. Whether you’re hosting a lively family dinner or a smaller celebration, a delicious main course sets the scene for a meal everyone can look forward to.
From a classic roast turkey to a satisfying vegetarian centrepiece, here are five delicious ideas for your Thanksgiving table.
1. Classic Herb-Roasted Turkey

There’s something special about bringing a beautifully golden turkey to the table. With crisp skin, fragrant herbs, and rich gravy, it’s a classic centrepiece that pairs beautifully with all your favourite Thanksgiving sides.
For a flavourful twist, try a butter rub with rosemary, thyme, sage, and a little lemon zest. Serve stuffing alongside the turkey, and add cranberry sauce for a bright, tangy finish.
Perfect pairings: Creamy mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, cranberry sauce, and gravy.
2. Maple-Dijon Glazed Ham

A glazed ham brings a lovely balance of sweet and savoury flavours to Thanksgiving dinner. Maple syrup, Dijon mustard, and a touch of brown sugar create a glossy glaze that makes this dish feel especially festive.
Ham is also a welcome choice for families who enjoy a different holiday tradition—or for a larger gathering where a second main course gives everyone more to choose from. Any leftovers are delicious tucked into sandwiches the next day.
Perfect pairings: Scalloped potatoes, green beans, roasted Brussels sprouts, and warm dinner rolls.
3. Garlic and Rosemary Roast Beef

For a Thanksgiving dinner with a little extra occasion, roast beef makes a beautiful centrepiece. A simple coating of garlic, rosemary, cracked black pepper, and olive oil lets the rich flavour of the beef shine.
Arrange slices on a serving platter and offer gravy or horseradish cream alongside. It’s a comforting, generous dish that feels right at home on a holiday table.
Perfect pairings: Yorkshire puddings, roasted potatoes, glazed carrots, and sautéed mushrooms.
4. Apple and Sage Stuffed Pork Loin

Apples and sage bring warm autumn flavours to a roast pork loin. A filling of sautéed apples, onions, sage, and breadcrumbs adds sweetness and texture, while the sliced roast makes an attractive presentation.
This is a lovely option when you want a seasonal main course that feels a little different from the usual turkey dinner. Serve it with an apple cider sauce to bring the flavours together.
Perfect pairings: Sweet potato mash, roasted squash, green beans, and apple sauce.
5. Mushroom and Lentil Wellington

A vegetarian main course can be every bit as festive as a traditional roast. Mushroom and lentil Wellington wraps a savoury filling in golden puff pastry, creating a beautiful centrepiece with plenty of flavour and texture.
Mushrooms, lentils, onions, garlic, and herbs make a satisfying filling. Letting the filling cool before wrapping helps keep the pastry crisp. For a vegan version, choose suitable pastry and use a plant-based glaze.
Perfect pairings: Roasted root vegetables, mashed potatoes, leafy greens, and vegetarian gravy.
Make Room for What Matters Most
The best Thanksgiving dinner is one that suits your family, your guests, and the time you have to enjoy it. Choose a main course you’re excited to serve, add a few favourite sides, and leave room for dessert—and a little lingering around the table.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in beautiful British Columbia, I’m grateful for the people and communities that make this place feel like home. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good food, warm company, and happy memories.
